Diaby Set For Arsenal Exit This Summer!

Last night various inside sources were notified by the news that Wenger and the Board have agreed to let Abou Diaby go this summer.

The midfielder, who can play both defensive midfield and attacking midfield, has been plagued by injures for the past few years, especially this season, and it has been reported the clubs have decided to sell the exciting player.

Diaby who joined in 2006 has gone on to making 110 league appearances despite his injures but has only managed to score a disappointing 14 goals during that time. His first 2 seasons with Arsenal were good and the player managed to hold a first team place, however since 2008, Diaby has been hampered by persistent injures.

Diaby only recently spoke to the media about his thoughts about potentially ending his playing career;

He said: “There have been times when I thought about stopping my career. I thought about retiring two or three years ago. You always ask yourself a lot of questions in those moments. It p****s me off when people label me a fragile player. It hurts and although I understand why, I am not fragile.”

Diaby’s tale of woe began when he suffered a severe ankle fracture against Sunderland in May 2006. Incredibly, since then he has sustained 30 separate injuries.

“I could become a doctor with all the medical knowledge I’ve gained,” said Diaby.

“I’ve had three ankle operations during my career and they destroyed the balance between my left and right legs. One leg would make up for the weaknesses in the other one. It is not easy to get everything right again.My ankle doubled in size as a result of the ops. It is a biomechanical problem, but once everything is fixed I won’t have any more pain.”

He added: “I am not scared for the rest of my career. I still have a big future. At least physically I really feel very good, like a beast.I know I am going to be fine. I have always worked very hard to come back.This is my worst season ever, but if I can regain my form and help France win Euro 2012, then great.I have a positive attitude and I have never been as motivated as I am now.”

But despite all this, Wenger has decided that after 4 years of support and hardly any improvement, the injury prone midfielder will move on, this summer with hope that he can reconstruct his career. Many fans have stuck by Diaby over the years and its a shame to see a player go, who held so much promise and still does in glimpses every time he plays but Wenger is looking continue his investment for the future and rebuild his current squad for next season and so its been agreed that its time for Diaby to be sold.

Diaby could be possibly included in a deal for Rennes’ defensive midfielder Yann M’Vila, Arséne Wenger has been negotiating with Rennes over a possible deal and its understood that Wenger is willing to spend up to £16 million on the player.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have sealed a £10.9m deal to sign German striker Lukas Podolski, 26, this summer. He will double his Cologne wages to around £80,000 a week after agreeing a five-year deal.
