Germany international Per Mertesacker seems to be match fit just in time for Euro 2012, as the Gunners defender resumed regular training after spending the past few months on the sidelines due to big injury.
The centre-back sustained an ankle ligament injury all the way back in February, and there were some huge doubts about whether the German would be ready in time to play at this summer’s European championships.
However, the former Werder Bremen star has returned to the training pitch again and played for the full 90 minutes during Sunday’s practice session with the national side.
Mertesacker was able to complete the training session without any problems, and will as many believe continue to work on his recovery process in the upcoming few weeks as he targets a starting berth in Germany’s Euro 2012 opener against Portugal on June 9 2012.
The Nationalelf will also have to contend with Denmark and the Netherlands in Group B which is believed to be the group of death.
