Arsene Wenger Set To Sign Blackburn’s Junior Hoilett?

Posted on May 21 2012 - 12:49pm by TFN Reporter

With the official opening of the transfer window fast approaching clubs worldwide will be looking to conduct their transfer business as early as possible. Moreover, Arsene Wenger has declared previously that it is his intention to tie up Arsenal’s transfer business sooner rather than later, in comparison last summers transfer window. This will allow any new signings the time to integrate into the Arsenal set up and become accustomed to their new surroundings. With a summer transfer to Arsenal for Podolski already completed the signs look good although, Arsenal MUST keep hold of their prized assists if they want to challenge on all fronts next season. Improving the squad we already have whilst, retaining the services of our best players is essential if Arsenal want to emerge as a forced to be reckoned with. A failure to do so would put Arsenal’s chances of having a successful season next year in major doubt.

How Will The Upcoming Transfer Window Impact The Players Already On Arsenal’s Books?

Firstly, Arsenal are expected to be very active this transfer window both on a buying and selling front. Several fringe players are widely tipped to leave the club including the likes of: Vela, Squillaci, Almunia, Arshavin, Denilson, and Fabianski to name a few. Therefore, it is important that as well as improving the current Arsenal squad with more talented experience players it is pivotal that Arsenal can find cover for the departure of various fringe players. Although, Arsenal have many loaned out players who are due to return in time for the new season, for example, Ryo Miyaichi who is expected to play a part for the Gunners next season. It is also important to consider that some of the players Arsenal will be looking to move on haven’t played at all for Arsenal this season so they may not need replacing.

However, Junior Hoilett is one of the players who has been continuously linked with The Arsenal of late. The Canadian international is 21 years of age and his performances this season have alerted several European clubs including: Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Tottenham. Arsenal will therefore need to act fast or risk losing out on the talented, pacey winger. The young playmakers contract is due to expire next move so he will be a free agent, yet, if Hoilett does decide to leave Blackburn his new club will have to pay a very small fee in compensation as the player is only 21 years of age. Blackburn manager Steve Kean remains hopeful he can convince the Canadian to stay at Blackburn but with the club relegated to the Championship it is very likely that the player will seek a move elsewhere. A move to Arsenal would be a signficant step up for the player with Hoilett able to reap the benefits from playing alongside the likes of: Jack Wilshere, Alex Song, Lukas Podolski and other quality players if he was to join Arsenal.

So What Has Steve Kean Had To Say On The Players Future?

After stating that there was not only interest in the player from Premier League clubs but from abroad Steve Kean also had this to say: “I can understand why because he has had some great performances, not only this season, but the past couple of seasons.’We’ll make a last-ditch effort to put something in front of him. You never know”. Steve Kean is desperate to hold onto the talented Canadian but the player may be determined to move on and join one of Europe’s Elite clubs in order to progress further as a footballer.

He has made over 90 appearances for Blackburn gaining some vital Premier League experience along the way. His link up play with Yakubu enabled Blackburn to have a fighting chance of staying up this season, without the impressive performances of Hoilett and Yakubu Blackburn would have been relegated much earlier.  He would be a good addition to the Arsenal squad, a move to an attacking Arsenal side would surely improve him as a player and he could have a positive impact on the Gunners squad. With Arsenal needing to improve their squad this summer a player of Hoilett’s ability and potential would be ideal for the North London giants. Strength in depth is vital if Arsenal want to challenge on all fronts next season…

With the Canadian available for a nominal compensation fee surely it makes sense for Arsenal to table an offer for the playmaker doesn’t it?

Arsenal should sign quality footballers if they want to win any trophy come next season. Wenger should buy wisely this time around.

  • @JasonBoyne94

Yes Ben I completely agree that is something I have talked about previously. Hoilett would be a good addition for Arsenal, although, I would prefer it if Arsenal signed Kagawa from Dortmund who is better. But if we do miss out on Kagawa then Hoilett would be an ideal alternative.

Thanks for the feedback and yes Phil I agree with you Arsenal must move fast to sign Hoilett before rival clubs from England and abroad make the first move.

  • @JasonBoyne94

Yes Lisa as I have talked about in the article Arsenal only need about 3/4 players with fringe players expected to leave. If we sign 3/4 quality experienced players and keep our best players we will challenge for trophies on all fronts next season.
