Chelsea are being heavily linked with a move for Southampton’s £4million-rated youngster Luke Shaw but reports claim the Saints will ignore any bids for the promising 16-year-old when they do receive them.
Shaw has just had one first-team appearance when he came on as a substitute in Southampton’s FA Cup 4th Round clash with Millwall last season but he has been watched by a number of top clubs with including Arsenal rumoured at the beginning of the year to be interested. Manchester United and Manchester City are also said to be monitoring his development.
However, Shaw will sign a professional contract with Southampton when he turns 17 next week and as the club are in no need financially to sell him it is thought they will reject any overtures from their Premier League rivals.
Blues Confirm Kalou, Bosingwa Departures
Meanwhile, Chelsea have officially confirmed that Salomon Kalou and Jose Bosingwa have both left the club.
Chelsea informed the Premier League at the end of May that the pair would not be offered new deals and the club have now confirmed that both Kalou and Bosingwa are free agents after their contracts expired on 30 June.
