The 23-year-old Anita was reportedly the subject of a failed bid from Newcastle a month ago which was believed to be around £4million. He signed a new deal with Ajax last summer which had a £12million release clause inserted into it after there was reported interest from Liverpool. However, it was reported last month that the Magpies would have to double their offer for Anita, something which has been re-iterated today by the Evening Chronicle in Newcastle.
Anita has requested talks with Ajax coach Frank de Boer over the situation and says he wants to play in the Premier League.
“That such a club shows serious interest is new to me,” Anita told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad about Newcastle.
“It gives me satisfaction and of course I am seriously going to consider it, along with my parents.
“The Premier League is a top competition where I would absolutely want to play football. I understand that Ajax will not let me go and I am signed up here until 2014, but in football you never know. It is of course no punishment to continue here.”
