Mancini give up on Van Persie, Modric deal looking more unlikely and West Ham offer Andy Carroll £36m over eight years.

Manchester City are considering giving up the chase for Dutch striker Robin Van Persie, since a deal looks to be going nowhere.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is also considering a £35m move for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, but to prise him away from Real it might take a swap deal including Aguero.
Modric deal falling apart
Real Madrid’s persuit of Luka Modric looks to be hitting a dead end since Tottenham chairman Danial Levy is still being persistent and holding out for the £40m asking price.
There is a debate as to whether the Croatian is worth the mammoth fee, and a poll on goal.com saw the majority disagree with Spurs’ price.
Tottenham rejected two offers from Real including a player exchange with the likes of Nuri Sahin and Ricardo Carvalho.
West Ham cough up cash for Carroll
Andy Carroll is looking like a move to West Ham is on the agenda since Sam Allardyce is trying to bring the former Newcastle forward to Upton Park by the start of the new season.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rogers has stated that he would not let Carroll leave on loan but West Ham are looking to buy the Striker for a fee of about £15m.
