Manchester United set to make a fresh bid for Van Persie

Manchester United look set to return with a fresh bid for Arsenal striker Robin van Persiethis weekend. The Red Devils have had bids of £10million and £15million rejected by Arsenal but after United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said the club would have to ‘persevere’ with their interest in the 29-year-old further talks look set to take place.

Arsenal are believed to want £20million for their skipper with one report on Thursday claiming that figure would rise to £25million if he moves to Old Trafford. United appear to be the only alternative to the unlikely event of van Persie remaining at Arsenal.

Juventus look to be out of the running, particularly after the news this morning of coach Antonio Conte’s ten-month ban for his role in a match-fixing scandal. The Serie A outfit are also being linked with Athletic Bilbao’s Fernando Llorente as an alternative to van Persie.

The Daily Telegraph claims that if United come back with a £20million bid then Arsenal will be forced into doing a deal. Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger rates van Persie at around £30million but the club’s board will accept £20million. United chief executive David Gill will handle negotiations for the Old Trafford club.

Well, it’s obvious Van Persie is on the verge of leaving Arsenal. Let him go at the rate of 25 millions. I belief Arsenal will surprise people this season. But importantly, Wenger, don’t sell Song.
