Alex Song to Barcelona is finally completed and with a fee of around £15m, I believe Arsenal have got a better deal out of it. In fact, I don’t even understand how Song will fit in the current Barcelona squad. I had written an article on Song last month and I always said that Alex Song is not a genuine disciplined defensive midfielder. He likes to go forward and attack, leaving the back four exposed. He had a great season with Arsenal as a sort of a playmaker. With 11 assists in the league, he was behind most of the goals scored by Robin van Persie. Now that Arsenal have signed Cazorla, they have got a better playmaker. Now they must look for a genuine DMF. I have shortlisted four and I believe Arsenal will sign one of them before the transfer window closes.
Yann M’Vila
Yann M’Vila has been linked with Arsenal for quite some time now and he is the sort of a player that Arsenal would love to have as a replacement of Alex Song. In fact, I believe Arsenal always needed a player like him, even if Song had stayed. A strong DMF who can provide that extra assistance and cover to the back-four that Arsenal have been lacking for so long. Tottenham has also been linked with Yann M’Vila but in an interview to French newspaper L’Equipe, Spurs manager Andre Villas Boas confirmed that they don’t want to sign him.
“He is an interesting player, but I don’t think he will join Tottenham. He is a rather defensive player, but I don’t think he will join Tottenham. We are looking for a more creative player. I won’t lie. There was an interest from us in that player, but now we are looking at different options.” – Andre Villas Boas
Nuri Sahin
Another player rumoured to join the gunners is Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid. Nuri Sahin has also been linked with Liverpool. Madrid want him off on loan so he can gain some experience. The problem with this transfer is Jose Mourinho, who seems to be reluctant in sending Sahin to Arsenal. Arsenal can take him for a season long loan, however if we are looking for a proper replacement of Alex Song, I would always say that M’Vila is the player that Arsenal need. Sahin is a great player and he can fit in the current Arsenal squad quite well but if we compare him to M’Vila, the latter is more reliable defensively.
“It’s always frustrating losing good players, but we have plenty of players in midfield. We could bring in further players, Nuri Sahin is one [of the names we are chasing].” – Arsene Wenger
Lucas Biglia
Another possible target for Arsenal could be the Argentine, Lucas Biglia. The 25-year-old plays for the Belgian club Anderlecht. He is valued at around £8million, so it looks good for his move to Arsenal. Sky Sports has actually confirmed that Arsenal are planning a bid for Biglia.
Victor Wanyama
Another option for Arsenal could be Victor Wanyama. Playing as a defensive medfielder for Celtic, the 21-year-old Kenyan footballer could be an ideal choice for Arsene Wenger. He is 6ft 2in, well-built and actually resembles Song in some ways. He could be the Alex Song that Arsene always wanted. Strong and disciplined DMF. He is valued at around £10m and Manchester United are also showing interest in him.
Out of all these, Arsenal are getting very close to signing Nuri Sahin and/or Yann M’Vila and we can expect an announcement very soon. The arrival of a player like Yann M’Vila will make the £15million Song deal sound really good. Arsenal fans know that the new signings are perfect and hardly anybody is bothered about Song going to Barcelona. As a matter of fact, if Arsenal sign a proper replacement, Song will be forgotten for good.

Arsenal should keep on doing business and forget about any trophy. very simple. It is now clear that Wenger is in Arsenal for business and not for trophy. He keep on selling our best players every year making arsenal feeder team. I am disappointed in Arsene. two important things to do before any trophy dream is to sell Diaby,Djourou and Ramsey and then keep song and bye M’villa
Mike, go to bed. Shame Arsenal attract glory hunters nowadays
Mike you’re a moron if you think its Wengers decision to do everything that’s happened… the board is the one who wants to make the profit.. if it was about money Wenger would of left to another team who would pay him even more than Arsenal does.. And sell Diaby? you must be blind .. Diaby on his day is a fantastic player… Ramsey just needs to go out on loan.
I want to know wen z djorous contract ending he is surplovs to requirement fit 2 play in blue square
Diaby, ramsey and djourou are the pple drawing arsenal backwards.they are stagnant cuz they are nt improving.
M’vila def! ALSO WHAT ABOUT CAPOUE??? WATCHED A COUPLE OF HIS GAMES AND HES IMO BETTER THAN SONG. SAHIN? HE ISN’T EVEN A DM MORE JUST HOLDING AND DISTRIB., WAYAN.? DOESN’T HAVE EXPERIENCE.
Is nw clear dat Wenger nd d board only think of hw 2 make profit nd forget dat for 7 years arsenal has not won any trophy. Most we always sell our best players every season? Am sry 2 say dis Wenger dnt ave any thing 2 offer 2 d fans( trophy) but only think of hw 2 make money 4 d board.
so surprising, every player in arsenal use to be the best in the world but immediately they leave, they become the reason behind our lack of silverware…henry was a legend.he brought pride to the club but he had enough medals to show his children..d dream of every player is to b d best..we should just stop criticising those who have left and try to bring out the best in the ones we still have
I’m so disappoited with Wenger, every year u sell ur best player n expect to win smthing, 4 7yrs u compete 4 28 trophy and culd nt win even 1 and u cal urself big club, is a shame.
Well,I wish all arsenal fans best of the season. To wenger,he needs to win a trophy dis season by signing good replacement for the sold players and also alternative players for the injured ones. Great and truly arsenal fan, thanks for being there. Lets hope for trophy this season, Amen. Love you all. GUNNERS FOR LIFE
im sorry to see all our stars defecting us,but as i see it,arsenals policy is to be one of the leading clubs in prem/league to show how to comply with the new rules fa/fifa are introducing, all our top earners are being shipped out.still love the gunners after supporting for 70ears, what would i do now without my sky
The likes of Ramsy, Chamakh, Dhjorou, Gervinho, Diaby r the players who should be off-loaded from arsenal they r nt able to proove themselves.
