Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is expected to complete his move from Manchester United to Fulham today in a deal worth around £4million. The 31-year-old has turned down approaches from Serie A sides Fiorentina and Juventus to remain in the Premier League and will reunite himself with Fulham boss Martin Jol with whom he worked when the pair were at Tottenham.
Berbatov has taken a cut in the order of about 50 percent to force through the two-year deal. The Bulgarian earned somewhere in the region of £110,000 a week at Old Trafford but is expected to sign a deal worth £50,000 a week with Fulham.
Fiorentina offered him a similar deal to Fulham but Berbatov failed to catch a plane to Florence on Wednesday to complete his move to the Serie A side leading to a furious reaction side in which Fiorentina suggested that Berbatov “did not deserve our city, our shirt and the values it represents.”
Berbatov moved to United in a £30.75million deal with Spurs at the end of August 2008. He played a total of 149 games for United, scoring 56 goals, with 48 coming in 108 Premier League games. In November 2010 he equalled the Premier League record of five goals in a game scored in a 7-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
