Numerous reports claim that Manchester City could end up paying Serie A side Fiorentina a huge £24million for defender Matija Nastasic, according to reports from Italy.
Manchester City will be paying an initial 17million euro in straight up cash for Nastasic with Stefan Savic, valued in the deal at 7million euro, going the other way. That brings the initial total to 24million euro (just over £19million) for the 19-year-old Serbian, why would Manchester City pay so much for a 19 year old? Has the game gone mad?
But in addition Manchester City have reportedly also agreed to pay Fiorentina a series of add-ons and bonuses which could be worth up to 6millon euro (£4.8million) which are based on games played, goals scored and the length of time he stays with City. That brings the total value of the deal to £23.8million.
Nastasic was at Fiorentina for just one season after moving from Partizan Belgrade in his homeland in 2011. He didn’t make a single league appearance for Partizan but was loaned to their ‘farm team’ Teleoptik playing in the Serbian lower league. After moving to Fiorentina last summer he played in 25 Serie A games.
