FC Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho has once again been heavily linked with Spurs after describing Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas as “one of the best coaches in Europe today.”, which could be seen as a come get me plea.
The 25-year-old was reportedly a deadline-day target for Tottenham in a move which would have reunited him with the man who took him to Porto in two years ago, in 2010. A move to White Hart Lane was believed to have collapsed after a third-party made a claim to a portion of the reported £22million transfer fee.
There are numerous claims that the deal could be revived again in the January window but for now Moutinho says he is concentrating on a Champions League campaign with Porto.
“Tottenham is not in my head now, although I was flattered by the interest, especially by the coach. Andre Villas-Boas is one of the best coaches in Europe today,” he said.
“The transfer window is closed but now I am focused on Porto and prefer not to talk about something which may or may not happen.
“Porto is a club which offers maximum stability to help me show my best level. I cannot talk about anything else until that changes.”
