Toure: “The position we are in now is quite serious because we lost in Madrid,” City midfielder Yaya Toure, who was a Champions League winner with Barcelona in 2009, said Tuesday.
“We need to improve and we need to work hard because Dortmund are a fantastic team. We play our first game in the Champions League at home, and we want to show the fans we made a mistake in Madrid,” he said.
“We have to get as many points as possible because we know we are in a difficult group with Madrid, Dortmund and Ajax.”
“We want to go to the second stage,” City manager Roberto Mancini said. “That will be difficult. Borussia Dortmund are one of the best teams in Europe.
“They are a young team with really good players and good quality. They are really strong up front with [Marco] Reus, [Robert] Lewandowski and [Mario] Gotze. Their manager [Jurgen Klopp] is a very good manager.
“It is important to get into the second stage and after that anything can happen because we are a good team.”
“I think it’s going to be a tough, massive game tomorrow,” Toure said. “We’ll need to improve on our performance in Madrid and work really hard as Dortmund are a fantastic team. They all defend together and attack together.
“But we need a good result for our fans. We know we want to do it and we can do it. We’re already in a delicate position, but we’ve got our first game at home and we want to show the fans we can make up for the mistakes we made in Madrid and get a good result tomorrow.”
