France’s Didier Deschamps has officially hit back at Mr Wenger’s comments about Diaby to be left out of the latest France squad the Gunners midfielder picked up an injury in their Premier League  defeat to Chelsea last weekend.

Deschamps was not impressed with Wenger’s demands, which were that Diaby stays with th club during international break. Dechamps did not include him but he did however warn the Gunners boss that he is the one that makes decisions on the French players not him.

“I want to remind him that I am the only one to decide who will be picked and how long those who are picked will play,” Les Bleus’ coach told reporters on Thursday afternoon.

“There is only one to decide and it’s me.”

“I didn’t think it was the right time to call him back, I prefer to wait a while,” he added.

Les Bleus’ battle against Spain could be crucial in deciding the composition of Group I, with only one nation qualifying automatically for World Cup 2014.

“Maybe they are missing some players, but they are still the best team in the world,” he commented.

“The facts are there. No other team has won the European Championship, the World Cup and the Euros again.”
