Liverpool central defender Daniel Agger could very soon sign a new deal with Liverpool, according to a report by the Daily Mirror.
The Denmark international was linked with heavy interest from Manchester City and Barcelona this summer but the Mirror claims he is close to signing a new deal at Anfield and that there is a possibility he could put pen to paper even before the Reds take on Serie A side Udinese in the Europa League later today.
Agger was the believed to be subject of a £20million bid from City prior to the start of the season, a bid that scuppered Barcelona’s interest. The Catalan giants were keen on Agger but were looking to pay a much lower price for a player aged 27. However, Liverpool are believed to have offered him a new four-year deal worth around £75,000 a week.
Agger is unlikely to be risked against Udinese having picked up a knee injury in the 2-1 home defeat by Manchester United last month.
Liverpool teenage midfielder Suso could also be set to sign a new deal. The 18-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the club and manager Brendan Rodgers hinted earlier this week that an improved could be on the cards for the Spaniard.
Suso has spent the past three seasons at Anfield after moving to Liverpool in 2009. The Reds snatched him just a day before he was due to sign for Real Madrid and the Spanish champions’ continued interest is another reason for Liverpool’s desire to tie him down to a long-term deal.
