Crystal Palace place £20M on Arsenal Target

Crystal Palace have put a £20million price tag on Arsenal target Wilfried Zaha. The Gunners are one of a number of clubs said to have been watching the 19-year-old winger and we reported last week that the Gunners sent scouts to watch him during Palace’s recent 4-3 victory over Barnsley, a game in which Zaha scored twice.

Zaha’s valuation was put at £20million on Zaha, however, Palace chairman Steve Parish has told the South London Press that any club wishing to put in a bid for Zaha a would need deep pockets.

“He is an extraordinary talent,” said Parish. “I said at the start of the season that keeping hold of Wilf would be like spending a lot of money on a transfer. Other sides can fly their kites but it would take £20million before we even got interested.

“He has got the lot, provided he keeps his feet on the ground and continues working so hard on his game – then it will all come.”

Parish added his thinking behind such a large price tag.

“People would have to compensate us accordingly for losing his talent – that is what a transfer fee is.

“All the teams have got to understand that you get £60m in TV money if you get into the Premier League, which is where we want to get. So we’d need to be compensated for reducing our chances of getting there.”

Liverpool and Manchester City are also said to be interested.
