So once again, as one club begins to fear the worst the rest of teams from around Europe circle like vultures to see if they can pick up a bargain or two.
World Cup winner Jesus Navas seems to be the cut price man that Premier League clubs are fighting over at the bargain bin as they try and capatalise on the struggles of Sevilla FC.
The winger has been a regular in the Spanish squad during the countries most successful international period and he is a player that could be a real star at one of Europe’s top clubs.
But who will take the plunge and splash a reported £20million on this Spanish star?
Arsenal seem to be the most likely option for Navas come the January transfer window as Arsene Wengers style and footballing philosophy would go hand in hand with the Spaniard.
With threatening pace, tricky footwork and fabulous crossing ability he could be the perfect asset for Arsenal on the right wing, supplying ammunition for Giroud and chipping in with the odd goal himself.
But Wenger already has a lot of forward players at his disposal, so some of the fringe players may have to be moved on in January with Arshavin, Chamakh and possibly even Theo Walcott making way.
Joining Arsenal would also allow Navas to link up with fellow Spaniard Santi Cazorla and playing similar football to the national side which would certainly suit him.
As for the other teams vying for his signature, Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea could also be possible destinations for the Spanish winger as he would certainly offer something different to these sides.
Navas could well make an impact in any of these Premier League teams but whether these clubs would want to make an offer at this present moment is in doubt.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the Spaniard’s services but with a similar player in the form of Aaron Lennon already in the squad, it’s not an area of the team that AVB will be desperate to improve.
Looking at the situation it seems that Arsenal would be the perfect destination for Navas and the gunners would hugely benefit from his services.
There has been a lot of talk about the lack of end product from players like Walcott and Gervinho so Jesus Navas could add even more of a threat to the Arsenal attack.
If players like Arshavin and Chamakh move out of the Emirates in January, expect Navas to be moving in. It would definitely be £20million well spent.
