Real Madrid are being linked with a move for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Geaamidst rumours the young Spaniard is homesick.
Reports from Spain have claimed that de Gea is looking to leave Old Trafford and recently appointed Jorge Mendes as his agent. Mendes has a good relationship with United, but he also has a good relationship with Real and counts Cristiano Ronaldo and Real coach Jose Mourinho amongst his clients.
Mendes is the fourth agent de Gea has had in his short career and there are suggestions in Spain that de Gea wants to return to his homeland and that he has appointed Mendes with that goal in mind.
Last week, El Confidencial newspaper in Madrid claimed Real would pay around 20million euro (£16million) for de Gea next summer. The Spanish side have Antonio Adan as second-choice keeper behind Iker Casillas although the 25-year-old Adan was rumoured to be ready to leave the Bernabeu this summer due to a lack of first-team opportunities. The same would apply to de Gea whose frustration at not being first-choice keeper is behind his unhappiness. But at 31, Casillas is ten years older than de Gea and with keepers typically playing until their mid- to late-thirties he has a number of years left in him just yet.
De Gea has made four Premier League appearances for United this season with Anders Lindegaard being preferred in the other four.
