The agent of Genoa defender Mario Sampirisi says that both Manchester United and Chelsea are among a number of clubs interested in his client although he suggests that both clubs will face some resistance from Genoa should they make a bid in January.
The 18-year-old was watched by scouts from a number of Premier League clubs on Saturday as Genoa went down 1-0 to AC Milan in the San Siro.
“Chelsea and Manchester United interested in him? Yeah, they sent their scouts to follow him live but I don’t know if they’ll try to take him in January,” Giuseppe Riso told tuttomercatoweb in Italy.
“Genoa do not want to sell. But I am not surprised that the Premier League clubs have their eye on him. Mario has the typical physique that British teams like.
“Some Italian clubs are also following him.”
Sampirisi came up through the ranks at Milan before being transferred to Genoa last summer; however, he has only cemented his place in the Genoa side this season.
