Arsenal have been dealt a big blow in their pursuit of Barcelona striker David Villa as sources claim that the striker will stay in Barcelona for the birth of his child in the coming months.
Rumours have been circulating recently that Villa could be set to make a move to the Premier League with Arsenal the most likely destination after been left out of new Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova’s plans this season. The 31 year hasnt featured much for Barcelona this year and would like a move to the London club but the suspected birth of his child may stop him from making a move according to the Daily Star.
“His wife is said to be expecting a boy in February, their third child. David doesn’t want to be away during that time so a move now looks very unlikely,” said a source.
“But David does want to leave – he is frustrated and a little sad, too. His time here hasn’t been the best.”
Villa who is Spain’s record goalscorer is desperate for a move away but his club Barcelona are reluctant to sell, having told Arsenal that only a £16m bid may tempt them, but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes he can get the striker cheap due to the money that Barcelona owe the gunners for the Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song transfers.
