Arsenal are reportedly in talks with Borussia Dortmund as the North London side look to sign the German international, is this the first signing of Mr Wengers January spending spree?
Numerous reports claim that Arsene Wenger will be beating numerous interested parties to the signing of the 24 year old Bundesluga defender, Mats hummels, who may feel it is the right moment to think of making an exit from the Bundesliga side with Jurgen Klopp’s side looking likely to lose the Bundesliga Title, which they have been able to keep for the past 2 years.
It has been reported by the Daily Express that negotiations are apparently already underway between Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal, and the Gunners want to sign him up as soon as possible to strengthen the back four so that they can compete in the FA Cup and Champions League with a strong defence.
Reports also went on to claiming the Arsenal will be asked to pay a minimum of £17.6m for the former Bayer Munich man who is also the subject of interest from other Premier League giants such asMan City, Man United and top of the league La Liga side Barcelona.
Arsenal do have three fantastic centre-backs to use when needed; Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Thomas Vermaelen. It doesn’t seem necesarry to focus on the defence whilest the Gunners attack needs strengthening, but after yesterdays 5-1 win over West Ham you would hardly even think that the Gunners need more strikers.
